Eudora Configuration for SpamAssassin

If SpamAssassin is set up on your mail server (like mail.your-company-name.tld); you can set up your mail client to filter out spam messages, based on headers that SpamAssassin adds to each message.

Eudora Mail Client Configuration

IMPORTANT: Please keep in mind that non-spam messages could end up in this folder and spam messages could end up in your Inbox.

Configuration:

  1. Launch Eudora

  2. Select Tools and then Filters

    Select Tools, then Filters

  3. Click New (located in the lower left corner..)

    Click New

  4. In the Header field delete what is there, and type in it's place, X-Spam-Flag:
    In the dropdown box, select contains and in the next field type YES

    Select Header

  5. Under Action, select Transfer To under the first drop down menu

    Select action

  6. Then click the button to the right and choose New

    Create New Folder

  7. Create a new mailbox called Spam. Do NOT check Make it a folder. Click OK

    Name the New Folder

  8. Close the window by clicking the X in the upper-right-hand corner of the window

    Close the Window

  9. Choose Yes to save the filter

    Save Filter

  10. You have now created a filter which moves all messages marked as potential spam to the Spam mailbox

    View Spam

IMPORTANT: Please keep in mind that non-spam messages could end up in this folder and spam messages could end up in your Inbox.

To help us improve the accuracy of the SPAM filter please keep all spam in the SPAM folder, if you have any mail that was incorrectly identified as SPAM please move it into the Inbox.
