Configuring Outlook 2007 on Windows

Outlook 2007

Launch Outlook, and if this is a new set up you will see an introductory screen. Click on Next.

Account Configuration

By default the Yes option should be selected. If not, select Yes and then click on Next.

Add New E-mail Account

Place a check in the box labeled Manually configure server settings or additional server types, click Next.

Add New E-mail Account - Chose E-mail Service

Select Internet E-Mail (the first option) then click Next.

The next screen will display and ask for your mail account information. Proceed with the following changes.

  1. Under the User Information heading, enter your first and last name in the Your Name: text field
  2. In the text field E-mail Address:, enter your full email address
  3. Under Server Information heading, update the Incoming mail server: text box to: zimbra.real-time.com
  4. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP): text box, enter: zimbra.real-time.com
  5. Under the Logon Information heading, update the User Name: text box to use your full email address
  6. Place a check in the box next to Remember Password
  7. Click on the More Settings... button in the lower right corner

Internet E-mail Settings - Outgoing Server

A new floating window will appear called Internet E-mail Settings. Click on the second tab, Outgoing Server.

  1. Place a check in the box labeled My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication
  2. Make sure the option labeled Use Same settings as my incoming mail server is selected
  3. Click on the Advanced tab

The following settings need to be updated.

  1. Under the heading Server Port Numbers, place a check in the box labeled This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
  2. This should update the Incoming server (POP3): port number to 995 (enter 995 if this does not automatically update)
  3. In the text box labeled Outgoing Server (SMTP): enter in the following number: 465
  4. The dropbox labeled Use the following type of encrypted connection: select SSL
  5. Click on OK

Add New E-mail Account - Next

This will take you back to the earlier window called, Add New E-Mail Account. Click on Next.

Add New E-mail Account - Finish

Click on the Finish button.
