gFTP is a free multithreaded ftp client for *NIX based machines running X11R6 or later.

Source, .rpm and .deb files are available at ftp://gftp.seul.org/pub/gftp

Upload Content:

  1. Launch gFTP

  2. Refer to the Welcome Letter that was faxed to you and proceed with the following:
    1. In the Host: field, enter your web address (www.companyname.com)
    2. In the User: field, enter in your Login Name
    3. In the Pass: field, enter in your Password
    4. Hit Enter to connect

  3. Locate the files you wish to upload to the webserver in the Local Files window (on the left)

    Select files to be uploaded

  4. Change directories in the destination window (on the right) so that you are in the /usr/httpd/virtual/ directory. Then proceed to change to your web directory, for instance www.companyname.com

    Select Destination Directory

  5. Choose from one of the following:
    1. Change to the html directory if you are uploading HTML content
    2. Change to the cgi-bin directory if you are uploading any php, cgi, et al scripts
    3. Change to the servlets directory if you are uploading any Java Applets or Servlets

  6. In the Local files window, click (to highlight) the files you wish to upload and click on the right arrow in the middle of the screen to start the process.

    Click the Right arrow to send content

Download Content

  1. Launch gFTP

  2. Refer to the Welcome Letter that was faxed to you and proceed with the following:
    1. In the Host: field, enter your web address (www.companyname.com)
    2. In the User: field, enter in your Login Name
    3. In the Pass: field, enter in your Password
    4. Hit Enter to connect

  3. Locate the files you wish download from the webserver in the Remote Files window (on the right) Left click on the files once to they are highlighted

  4. Find a destination folder in the Local Files window (on the left)

    Select a Destination Directory

  5. Click on the left arrow in the middle of the screen to start the download process

    Click on the Left arrow to download content

Disconnecting

  1. Click on Remote and select Disconnect, or hit Ctrl + D

    Select Remote, then Disconnect or hit Ctrl + D
