Here are the instructions for performing a flush using amanda for tape backup. This is normally used if you missed a day in the normal tape backup cycle.

  1. Place the next tape in the drive
(Don't worry about which tape holds what; amanda's indexing will take care of that)

  2. Log in to machine via ssh or the local terminal

  3. Enter the following commands:

    su -
    su - operator
    /usr/sbin/amflush DailySet1

IMPORTANT: DailySet1 is an example configuration file

If there's more than one backup to flush, answer 'ALL' when/if it asks you which backups to flush.

  4. Answer 'y' to flush backups to tape

  5. Once the flush is done, you'll need to eject the tape manually by using one of the following:

    1. Enter mt -f /dev/st0 rewoffl

    2. Push the eject button on the drive
